Partly due to the new environmental requirements and the low-maintenance epoxy composite construction method, and especially the weight savings and great rigidity, wood construction is becoming increasingly popular. It even seems to have the future.
The W36 Worlds 2018 Edition shows how green can be built with wood. The boat is made of FSC-certified wood that is processed using a new process with biodegradable synthetic resin and then briefly ‘baked’ in the oven for extra rigidity. Due to the type of wood and the natural fiber structure, together with degradable (biological) synthetic resin, this material is lighter, stronger and more sustainable than regular composite or carbon materials, according to the builders.
