At the end of the sixties, Willem Akkerman and Klaas Kremer of Waarschip developed the Quarter Tonner, after the 600, the 600 SV and the 710). The Quarter Tonner (also called 725) is a light rigid cabin sailboat for the Quarter Ton Cup. The beautiful lines of the ship and the good results gave many (race) sailors  the jitters. As a result, many Quarter Tonners found their way to these sailors. With the Quarter Tonner prototype, Kremer regularly occupied first place during many competitions in the Netherlands, such as the Flevo Race, and abroad during the Cowes Week and the Quarter Ton Cup. The design is therefore rightly the “success number” of its time. Back in old glory in 1999 this Quarter Ton van Kremer came into view of Hechtschip. The enthusiastic new owners indicated that they wanted to bring the boat back to the competition field. This was a great opportunity for Hechtschip to show what an old Quarter Tonner is capable of. The good and intensive cooperation between Hechtschip, Peltzer / Van Dijk Performance Yacht Design from The Hague and the owners led to the “Spray”, as the Quart Tonner is now called, appearing on the racing waters in 2001 with a spectacular rigging plan.
